Mountain Express Mission: To provide safe, free
and courteous public ground transportation services for residents of
and visitors to the Mt. Crested Butte, Crested Butte, and surrounding
north valley communities and to provide a safe, fair, and honest working
environment for Mountain Express employees.
Mountain Express (MX) provides ground transportation services to residents of and visitors to the towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte and the surrounding community. MX provides services without charge to riders. MX is funded by a portion of sales taxes collected by the towns and a portion of admission taxes collected by Mt. Crested Butte as well as State and Federal grants.
MX is governed by a five-person board of directors. Four directors are elected council persons, two appointed by each town. An at-large director is appointed by the board. MX operations are directed by a Transit Manager and an Assistant Transit manager.
